Get Your Kids Writing with Andrew Pudewa

Andrew Pudewa of the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) is bringing his series of writing workshops to the Memphis area. As a “certified” Andrew Pudewa groupie (yes – we’re real people), I will be there too. I would love to say he is coming to the area just to see me, but I have a better handle on myself than to believe that one. Anyway, this is a great opportunity for any student, regardless of their writing ability.

There will be three days of workshops and seminars that will be held at Audubon Park Baptist Church (4060 Park Avenue, Memphis, 38111). All programming is geared towards children in third through twelfth grades. If you use the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) curriculum or have ever wondered why it is always suggested as a go-to writing program, attending one of the workshops or seminars may answer your questions.

Student Workshops – Thursday, October 19, 2017

Students will be introduced to the Key Word Outline, which is the foundation of the IEW style of writing. There will be introductory workshops for the student who has not used the program to ones for the more experienced student writer who has used or is familiar with how IEW works. Parents may attend and observe for free.

Nurturing Competent Communicators – Thursday, October 19, 2017

Parents who feel challenged by the whole writing experience may attend this free workshop to help them learn how to better assist their children in their own writing.

Advanced Student Workshops – Friday, October 20, 2017

The Structure and Style Units 4/6, 5 and 7 will be presented using the Key Word Outline and other writing techniques. Parents may attend and observe for free.

High School Essay Intensive – Saturday, October 21, 2017

This seminar is for your high school student and will focus on text analysis and college application essays. Parents may attend and observe at a reduced fee.

The workshop fees for students are reasonably priced and you may receive a discount if you register by Thursday, September 28. The only thing is you probably do not want to delay, because along with a minimum number of students required to hold the workshop, many have a maximum number that can attend. Do not miss being in that number.

Call (800) 856-5815 or e-mail IEW if you have questions regarding any of the upcoming Memphis workshops and seminars.
