Sandhill Crane Festival to Be Held in Birchwood

The 32nd Annual Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival will celebrate over 20,000 majestic Sandhill Cranes that visit the Hiwassee Refuge during their winter migration this month. Visitors will see and hear such sights as “the call, which can be heard for over a mile, the dance between mates, the wingspan which stretches to six to seven feet, and the view of this four-foot-tall bird“. If you have never seen this event, it will be a sight to see and one your children and you will always remember. The festival, which is touted as a premier birding event, is presented by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
