Marble Springs State Historic Site Takes Students Back to the Past for Homeschool Day

Marble Springs State Historic Site will hold a Homeschool Day on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The March date sold out quickly and due to an overwhelming response of interest, the April date was added. So, if your family would like to attend, do not delay in registering.

Students will participate in an immersive and educational homeschool tour designed to provide them with a unique field trip experience. Step into the past to the colonial-period and see a militia drill, and gain a firsthand understanding of early American history. Students will gain an understanding of the significance of taverns and currency while keeping their “families” alive as they play a trading game in the tavern. Visit the Sevier Cabin to learn about early Tennessee history through story telling. Students will also compare past and modern kitchens in our kitchen. Additionally, students will discover the art of spinning, weaving, and natural dyes in the loom house. It will be an engaging journey where history and learning merge to create an unforgettable adventure.

Students will be separated into three groups of 20 that will experience the tour together. The student tickets are separated ahead of time for those groups. Groups are labeled as A, B, and C. If you are wanting to experience the tour with friends, coordinate accordingly and purchase tickets for the correct group.

Admission is $7 per student and adult. Children three and under are free. Adults will be required to accompany any minors in attendance.

Check-in begins at 11 a.m. and the tour begins at 12 p.m. sharp!

You may purchase through Friday, April 19, 2024, at 12 p.m. Although April 19 is the deadline, ticket sales will close once the event is sold out!
